For me, this error didn't show up until upgrading to (currently) latest kernel:

Code:

Linux pidesk 6.6.20+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.6.20-1+rpt1 (2024-03-07) aarch64 GNU/Linux
With the latest kernel I see these errors regarding the Intel NVMe drive (INTEL SSDPEKNU020TZ):

Code:

[   91.725542] hid-generic 0003:17F6:1862.0004: input,hidraw3: USB HID v1.11 Keyboard [Unicomp Inc U AP1_4_87k_Kbrd_v7_57] on usb-xhci-hcd.0-1.2/input0[ 9804.643565] nvme nvme0: controller is down; will reset: CSTS=0xffffffff, PCI_STATUS=0x10[ 9804.643573] nvme nvme0: Does your device have a faulty power saving mode enabled?[ 9804.643576] nvme nvme0: Try "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pcie_aspm=off" and report a bug[ 9804.703573] nvme 0000:01:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)[ 9804.710464] nvme nvme0: 4/0/0 default/read/poll queues[25100.916197] usb 1-1.2: USB disconnect, device number 5
(error seems to repeatedly show up just before 10000 seconds since boot...)

With the earlier kernel (Linux pidesk 6.1.0-rpi8-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.1.73-1+rpt1 (2024-01-25) aarch64 GNU/Linux) no error gets logged at all...
