HATs and other add-ons • Waveshare 1.69 display and Raspberryt PI 5

I have been struggling for hours trying to get the waveshare 1.69 240x280 SPI display to work ith a raspberry pi 5 running stock
bookworm 64bit OS.

I tried to follow the guide on the waveshare website but ended up with lots of errors, Does anyone have a guide to get the display working, I have connected the two devices togther using the followwing connections.

Waveshare 1.69WiringRaspberry pi 5 Pin
VCC Purple1
GND White6
DIN Green19
CLK Orange23
CS Yellow24
DC Blue22
RST Brown13
BL Black32

There is one change in the connections BK should be connected to GPIO 18 / Pin12 but I am using that for something else so ill need to
use GPIO12 / Pin32.
