Dear community!
I have a question regarding esim options on the pi5.
Problem:
I have a couple of pi5 devices, installed on remote areas in several countries (US, AUS, UK, NL, etc) that move around in countries, where there is almost always LAN or WIFI network but these tend to have frequent issues (at least once every two weeks). But because of the networks having issues, i cannot remotely access the devices to assess the issues/troublehshoot (is it power, network, something else?).
Approach:
Therefore I want to integrate 4G/5G e-sim on the Raspberry Pi5. I have found dongles that ultimately work with a 5ber physical sim card where i (pre-)installed an esim profile on. However, this defeats the purpose, as the sim/e-sim needs to be configured on an android or iphone, then taken out of the phone and placed into the dongle. I want this process the esim configuration to be done on the pi5 or on the networking module/dongle, without the physical hassle.
Goal:
with the help of a local temporary LAN/WIFI network, be able to provide the pi5 device with a local reliable network provider - as backup network and troubleshooting tool.
Any succes stories? Working options? Alternative solutions?
Many thanks!
